Professional Development Workshop Series:
Resume Writing & Interview Skills
Teresa R. Martinez, M.A.Ed., M.S., Associate Director of Career Services at the University of the Pacific, was invited to lead a workshop on crafting effective resumes and enhancing interview skills. She shared valuable strategies with graduate students on writing impactful resumes and making a lasting impression in interviews.

Inspired by the professional development perks at PharmSci 360, the AAPS UOP Student Chapter collaborated with the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy Marketing Department to provide complimentary professional headshots for all graduate students, faculty members, and administration.
AAPS x IPhO Panel
PharmD to PhD: Exploring Research and Industry Pathways
To foster collaboration between PharmD and PhD students at the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, the AAPS and IPhO student chapters hosted a panel discussion on research, the PhD experience, and the value of a dual degree in industry. Panelists Dr. William Chan, Dr. Yifan Lu, and PhD students Sophia Wong and Jahnavi Yalamanchili shared valuable insights with PharmD students, sparking meaningful discussions.



AAPS Bay Area Discussion Group (BADG)
Poster Presentations at Genentech
The AAPS-Pacific Student Chapter was honored to present posters at the AAPS Bay Area Discussion Group's September and November meetings. Students had the opportunity to showcase their research, network with industry professionals, and engage with keynote speaker Dr. Xiaoming Xu, Division Director at the FDA.

As part of the effort to better prepare students for industry, AAPS-Pacific hosted a LinkedIn workshop led by Victor Miranda, Assistant Director for Career Services. Attendees gained valuable insights on optimizing their profiles and leveraging LinkedIn for career and network growth.

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Volunteering
As part of the health care community, our student chapter volunteered for the COVID-19 clinics held by the University of the Pacific (UOP) as well as the BJRX Pharmacy. The clinic invited medical professionals to help with and administer vaccines, while also inviting general volunteers to help clinics with registration, greeting, and even translating.
Annual Research Day

UOP's Research Day is an annual event hosted by the Pacific Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference (PURCC) to celebrate faculty, staff, and student researchers. Graduate students from our student chapter always attend to present their research in the pharmaceutical field.



Volunteering for Wuxi Global Forum
J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference
Students from our student chapter were invited by WuXi AppTec, one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in China, to volunteer at the 38th annual J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference in San Francisco. It was an excellent experience for them to learn advanced ideas and techniques from pharmaceutical scientists.
Guest Lecture by Dr. Janet Xiao on Patent Law
Dr. Janet Xiao from Morrison Foerster was invited to provide a knowledge-focused lecture on patent law at Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy. Dr. Xiao is known as a excellent IP expert in the United States, equipped with solid skills in both global strategic IP management and IP issues unique to China. Her expertise and view were instructive and beneficial for both faculty and graduate students, especially for those who are interested in applying for patents with their creative research works.



China Pharmaceutical University Graduate Student Workshop
Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences Program (PCSP) from University of the Pacific (UOP) has a persistent collaboration with China Pharmaceutical University (CPU), which is one of the top pharmaceutical universities in China. Our chapter and pharmacy school invited graduate students from CPU to join workshop together at UOP. During the workshop, the faculty and students from both universities exchanged their ideas on had a wonderful educational experience in pharmaceutical researches.
